Kerala Food Festival in RRVM (11/08/2018)
Kerala food festival It’s a practice of Ram Ratna Vidya Mandir to celebrate the Food Festivals of various states every month. We celebrated Kerala food festival on 11th August 2018, by following the rules and ways of Onam celebration. To welcome the ‘golden ruler the king Mahabali and lord Vamana ’we made flower rangoli known as Pookalam in the courtyards of the Nalanda and Thakshashila building of RRVM, and also decorated both academic block as well as the mess buildings naturally with flowers, tender coconut and mango leaves. The entire morning assembly of the school was conducted in Malayalam.The power point presentation about Kerala and all other cultural programs begins at 12.00 noon, The program begins with welcome dance .The highlight of the day was Radha Krishna dance and Thiruvathirakali. Our music teachers sung a beautiful Malayalum song too. Altogether it becomes a wonderful cultural feast for the audience. There after we welcomed Lord vamana ,King Mahabali,Krishna and Radha with thala poli and then taken them for a procession that began at the Thakshashila building and ended at the Annapurna hall of RRVM.. One of the main attractions of the festival was the grand feast known as Onasadya, which is a nine-course meal consisting of 10-13 dishes, including rice, sambar, avial, boli and two types of payasam (sweet dish)served in banana leaves. Evening snacks was Parippu vada( Dal vada). lemon rice and Masala dosa was given as dinner. The students and the staff enjoyed the traditional Malayali cuisine.
