Sports are more than just games; they’re about life, emotion, passion, and some of the greatest highs and lows we can experience. “The values learned on the playing field–how to set goals, endure, take criticism and risks, become team players, use our bodies, stay healthy and deal with stress–prepare us for life.” With this view point, Ram Ratna Vidya Mandir offers a perfect blend of academics, co-curricular activities and sports making the student believe in , ‘I may win, and I may loose, but I will never be defeated.’ Ram Ratna Vidya Mandir celebrated its 19th Annual Sports Meet on 5th December 2015. The meet began with the lightning of the lamp by the chief guest Padmini Rout, a chess player who holds the titles of International Master and Woman Grandmaster from Bhubaneswar who inaugurated the sports meet along with other dignitaries. To put the school’s vision into practice, that is to develop socially conscious Bharatiya citizens of tomorrow providing enlightened leadership in all walks of life.” Students are divided into five houses, inspired from the five basic elements of life that is Gagan, Kshiti, Neer, Pawak and Sameer. The five houses in their files displayed the march past with excellent coordination. ‘When the Breath wanders, the mind is unsteady, but when the Breath is still, so is the mind still.’ With this notion the students performed ‘Yoga’ displaying agility and elegance.

The girls of the school enthralled the audience with their admirable performance of aerobics. Following this student competed in different sports categories including track events ranging from 100 meter and 400 meter in the category of (U/14), (U/19) for boys /girls. A string of events further followed showcasing the dedication, determination and concentration of the students while they exhibited their skills in the presentation of Malkhambh and the formation of human pyramids. The highlight of the event was the performance by the martial arts champion of the school who left the spectators spellbound with their stunts. The meet also witnessed some unique competitions for parents of the school.

On the occasion, the Principal with her words of wisdom and motivation presented the welcome address and encouraged the students to give their best performance on the sports field and embrace sportsman spirit. Presenting the Sports Report for the year 2014-15 the school captain Prateek Agarwal also informed the students and school’s achievements on the field round the year. Addressing the students, the chief guest Padmini Rout vocalized her thoughts that how chess as a sport has helped her personally in her studies ,as a student and also in general to improve her concentration, and encouraged students to follow the same. At the end of the meet, Gagan house students bagged the trophy for the overall championship. Medals and certificates were distributed to winners as a token of appreciation at the prize distribution ceremony. The meet concluded by vote of thanks followed by Vande Mataram.
